“My musical journey began far from the paths of acousmatic music. I took part in The Voice Belgium in 2018, then represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2019. Pop music and song took up a lot of space in my life.
But it was when I joined the Conservatoire’s acousmatic composition section that my musical approach underwent a real metamorphosis. Acousmatic music turned out to be a profound liberation for me. Liberation from the often restrictive codes of pop music. A liberation from musical creation, where I discovered that every sound could be received at the same level as a traditional musical note. Above all, it liberated my creative imagination, which now had no limits.
Nevertheless, I retain a sincere attachment to the pop music and tonal structures that have shaped my sensibilities for most of my life. It’s a musical universe that I still deeply appreciate.
