Jean-François Lejeune

Bio

“I’m a stage manager in the world of live performance and in recent years I’ve had the opportunity to create sound for various shows by Thierry Smith, Toumai, Summertime and Vanishing Act, as well as for Elsa Poisot, Budy Body. These creations were commissioned and so are not exclusively electroacoustic compositions. I do, however, use the tools, vocabulary and grammar that I’ve been learning for the last 4 years on the acousmatic composition course with Annette Vande Gorne.
Over the last few years I’ve also been developing an electronic instrument that allows me to play live (improvised or prepared) with different playing modes that modify the parameters of morphology, timbre, pitch and speed in octophony.
I’m currently working on an improvisation project in an electronic duo with Mathieu Buytaers, and I’m working on a trio of electronic music, saxophone and wisps of smoke with Mathieu Lilin and Maxence Obein. Finally, I’m taking part in a project called Le creuseur de trou (The Hole Digger), made up of an electronic music quartet with Roald Baudoux, Hugues Peeters, Mathieu Buytaers and myself, and a storyteller, Manu De Loeul.
Here’s a link to some of the work from the acousmatics course, an extract from one of the duo’s rehearsals and a teaser video for the quartet plus storyteller”. (source: J.-F. Lejeune, 2025)
