Bruno Abt – Born in 1971 in Nancy – lives in Cassel in French Flanders
He began studying music theory and the violin at the age of 8. He studied harmony and analysis at the Lille Regional Conservatoire and musicology at the University of Lille III (1991-2002). There he studied composition with Ricardo Mandolini.
At the same time, he studied musical composition and electroacoustic techniques at the Ecole Nationale de Musique de Calais in Pierre Vasseur’s class (1991-1995).
He obtained a Master’s degree in composition in 1997 and a Diplôme d’Études Approfondies (DEA) in musicology in 1998. He began a doctorate in 1999.
He has composed various pieces of contemporary instrumental and electroacoustic music, and since 1999 has been working for the performing arts, producing music for theatre, contemporary dance, multimedia shows, videos and sound environments in conjunction with the visual arts.
Since September 2002, he has taught electroacoustic music composition and sound techniques at the Académie de Musique de Soignies in Belgium and, since 2021, at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental de Calais in France.
